This program highlights Sexual Assault Awareness and can help your school meet primary prevention initiatives. Topics cover the intersection of alcohol, sexual assault, legal consent, sexual health and wellness. It is ideally suited for comprehensive campus-wide sexual assault programming and can be framed within Orientation Seminars and First Year Experience formats. It covers peer pressure & social expectations within “hook up culture” as it specifically relates to alcohol and other drugs, harassment, and bystander education. The program can be adapted to include STD health & wellness, acquaintance rape & issues surrounding consent.

A 35 minute documentary screening is followed by discussion, interactive exercises and role playing, with extended time for Q & A upon request.

This program can also be modified to meet the programming needs of faith based schools, sororities and fraternities, conservative schools, health services, residential life and peer advisors. It is comprehensive, diverse, and inclusive of heterosexual and LGBT communities. It is especially popular during National Campus Safety Awareness Month, Domestic and Sexual Violence Months and Alcohol Awareness Week.

She has been featured on national radio & television and was a guest-expert on a guest-expert on Huff Post Live speaking about “College Hook Ups” and on ABC’s news show 20/20 in response to the Steubenville, Ohio high school rape case.

Denice Evans did a fantastic job conversing with Elon students on the topic of college hookups. Her discussion with students could have been potentially uncomfortable and awkward but she was relatable and open which made discussion flow beautifully. Students had the opportunity to share their take or opinion on the subject. Every seat in the room was taken, with many sitting on the floor. Denice held student’s attention with her captivating documentary and following dynamic discussion. The Elon community really benefitted from Ms. Evan’s visit and I’m so glad I got the chance to meet and speak with her!

I highly recommend Denice Evan’s program, ‘Spitting Game.’ The film itself was provocative and very thorough in terms of both her research and her footage of regular college students speaking openly about their hook up activity. The discussion that followed was superb. The students asked a number of questions about the filmmaking, and then launched into a surprisingly frank, and insightful conversation with one another about sexuality, gender roles, expectations, the male role in so called, ‘Hook Up Culture’ and alcohol. This topic speaks volumes about the student’s social experience. Ms. Evans is a very personable and savvy woman to whom the students could give feedback and who was open to answering each question. This program is a must-see!
